BUFFALO, N.Y. – Business lawyer and Buffalo native, Jonathan H.
Yellen has joined Damon & Morey LLP as Special Counsel in the firm’s
Business and Corporate Law Department.
Mr. Yellen’s practice focuses on advising private equity sponsors and
public and private companies on transactions involving mergers,
acquisitions and divestitures, leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations,
private equity and venture capital, corporate finance (including public
and private debt and equity offerings), cross-border/international
joint-ventures and partnerships, and general corporate law matters.
Mr. Yellen has extensive experience advising the officers and directors
of public and private businesses on corporate governance, fiduciary
duties and general compliance matters. He also provides corporate
executives and other managers with legal and strategic advice when
negotiating employment and compensation arrangements.

Mr. Yellen has advised such clients as start-up companies, major
investment banks and other financial firms, global lodging companies and
old and new media businesses. Clients he has advised include Soros
Private Equity Investors LP, Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp., the
Beacon Group LLC, and Targus Group International, Inc., among others.
Prior to joining Damon & Morey, he was most recently Executive Vice
President of Corporate Strategy and General Counsel for Digital
Lighthouse Corporation, where he was responsible for the company’s
overall legal strategy and compliance, as well as corporate mergers,
acquisitions and investments. Before joining Digital Lighthouse, he was
Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Starwood Hotels &
Resorts Worldwide, Inc., where he played a substantial role in many of
that company’s most significant transactions, including the $3.2 Billion
sale of Caesars World, Inc. to Park Place Entertainment Corporation, the
acquisition of Vistana, Inc., and Starwood’s $542 Million CMBS loan. He
began practicing law with Latham & Watkins LLP before moving to Fried,
Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.
Mr. Yellen received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and his
law degree from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone
Scholar. He subsequently earned a master of laws degree in taxation from
Georgetown University.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of the
Bar of the City of New York and the Erie County Bar Association.
Mr. Yellen joins more than seventy other attorneys at Damon & Morey LLP,
a full service law firm practicing in all major areas of the law.
