BUFFALO, N.Y. – Business lawyer and Buffalo native, Jonathan H. Yellen has joined Damon & Morey LLP as Special Counsel in the firm’s Business and Corporate Law Department.

Mr. Yellen’s practice focuses on advising private equity sponsors and public and private companies on transactions involving mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations, private equity and venture capital, corporate finance (including public and private debt and equity offerings), cross-border/international joint-ventures and partnerships, and general corporate law matters.

He also provides corporate executives and other managers with legal and strategic advice when negotiating employment and compensation arrangements.

“Returning to Buffalo, my wife and I look forward to the area’s unique quality of life and sense of community,” said Mr. Yellen. “Moreover, Damon & Morey offers me a terrific platform on which to build a dynamic practice working with a remarkable team. By working in this market, I can offer clients the same high quality, sophisticated advice, but at extremely competitive prices. That’s really compelling business logic these days.”

Clients he has advised include Soros Private Equity Investors LP, Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp., the Beacon Group LLC, and Targus Group International, Inc., among others. Prior to joining Damon & Morey, he was most recently Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and General Counsel for Digital Lighthouse Corporation, where he was responsible for the company’s overall legal strategy and compliance, as well as corporate mergers, acquisitions and investments. Before joining Digital Lighthouse, he was Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., where he played a substantial role in many of that company’s most significant transactions, including the $3.2 Billion sale of Caesars World, Inc. to Park Place Entertainment Corporation, the acquisition of Vistana, Inc., and Starwood’s $542 Million CMBS loan. He began practicing law with Latham & Watkins LLP before moving to Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Mr. Yellen received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and his law degree from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He subsequently earned a master of laws degree in taxation from Georgetown University.
