Names Eleven New Associates
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Damon & Morey LLP is pleased to announce
Jill A. Apa, Frank V. Balon, Meghann N. Carroll, Molly K. Donnelly,
Melinda L. Grabowski, Marc J. Krawiec, Jeffrey J. Leibeck, Jennifer L.
Leonardi, Stephen J. McCann, Ryan K. Micklus and Amber E. Storr
have joined the firm as associates.
Jill
A. Apa is an Associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment
Department. Ms. Apa received a dual B.A. degree, magna cum laude, in
English/ Journalism and History from the University of New Hampshire
in 1993. She went on to earn her J.D. degree, with distinction, from
Ohio Northern University’s College of Law in 1997. Prior to joining
the firm, Ms. Apa served as an adjunct Legal Research and Writing
instructor at Ohio’s Northern University, as well as a Staff Attorney
for the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals.
Frank
V. Balon is an Associate in the firm’s General Litigation
Department. He received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the State
University of New York at Buffalo in 1999. He went on to receive his
J.D. degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at
Buffalo Law School in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Balon
worked as an Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP (New York, NY)
and at Webster Szanyi, LLP (Buffalo, NY).
Meghann
N. Carroll is an Associate in the firm’s General Litigation
Department. She received her B.A. degree in Policy Studies from
Syracuse University in 2002 and went on to receive her J.D. degree
from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2006.
While attending law school, Ms. Carroll completed a judicial
externship with the Hon. Vincent E. Doyle Jr. Prior to joining the
firm, Ms. Carroll worked as an Associate at Bock, Colucci, Notaro &
Laing, PC (Buffalo, NY).
Molly
K. Donnelly is an Associate in the firm’s Probate Trust & Estate
and Real Estate & Banking Departments. She received her B.A. in
Communications from Loyola College in 2003. She received her J.D.
degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in
2006. In 2004, Ms. Donnelly worked as an intern to Surrogate Barbara
Howe where she performed legal research on New York’s Estates Powers
and Trusts Law, the Surrogate’s Court Procedure Act and Mental Hygiene
Law.
Melinda
L. Grabowski is an Associate in the firm’s General Litigation
Department. She received her B.M. degree, cum laude, from the State
University of New York at Fredonia in 1999. She went on to receive her
J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law
School in 2005. While attending law school, she served as the
Publications Editor for the Buffalo Law Review as well as the Student
Co-Editor of the American Bar Association’s Journal of Affordable
Housing (2004-2005). Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Grabowski worked
as an Associated at Ziller, Marsh & Lang, LLP (Buffalo, NY).
Marc
J. Krawiec is an Associate in the firm’s Business and Corporate
Department. He received his B.A. degree in English, summa cum laude,
from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2003. He went on
to receive his J.D. degree from the Boston University School of Law in
2006. While attending law school, he served as Articles Editor for the
Boston University International Law Journal.
Jeffrey
J. Leibeck is an Associate in the firm’s General Litigation
Department. He received his B.S. degree from West Virginia University
in 1987 and his J.D. degree from the Dusquesne University School of
Law in 2000. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an associate at
the law firms of Riley, Hewitt, Witte & Romano (Pittsburgh, PA) and
Brown & Levicoff (Pittsburgh, PA).
Jennifer
L. Leonardi is an Associate in the firm’s General Litigation
Department. She received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in History
from Canisius College in 2002. She went on to receive her J.D. degree
from the Villanova University School of Law in 2005. While attending
law school, Ms. Leonardi was a Symposium Editor for the Villanova
Environmental Law Journal and her article, “It’s Still Here!: The
Continuing Battle over Asbestos in America,” has been published in the
Villanova Environmental Law Journal. Prior to joining the law firm,
Ms. Leonardi worked as an Associate at Gielowski, Federice & Caligiuri,
LLP (Buffalo, NY).
Stephen
J. McCann is an Associate in the firm’s Real Estate and Banking
Department. He received his dual B.A. degree in English and Political
Science in 1998 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He
went on to receive his J.D. degree, with a concentration in Finance
Transactions, in 2004 for the State University of New York at Buffalo
Law School. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McCann was a Corporate
Compliance Specialist from M&T Bank, as well as an Associate for
Byrne, Costello & Pickard (Syracuse, NY).
Ryan
K. Micklus is an Associate in the firm’s Business and Corporate
Department. He received his B.A. degree in Economics, magna cum laude,
from Cornell University in 2003. He went on to receive his J.D.
degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo
Law School in 2006. While attending law school, he was the Electronics
Systems Editor for the Buffalo Law Review and a Clerk for the Buffalo
Intellectual Property Journal.
Amber
E. Storr is an Associate in the firm’s Business Litigation and
Insolvency. She received her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from
Buffalo State College. She went on to receive her J.D. degree from the
State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2006. While
attending law school, Ms. Storr the President of the Buffalo Moot
Court Board. She was served as a summer law clerk for Hon. John T.
Elvin - Federal District Court (WDNY). Prior to joining Damon & Morey,
Ms. Storr was a Secondary Market Loan Purchase Representative for
Empire of America Realty Credit Corp. and a Community Involvement
Specialist for Ecology and Environment, Inc. (Buffalo, New York).

Beth Ann Bivona and
Mary C. Raymond have been
selected by the Daily Record as one of Western New York's Up and
Coming Attorneys. This achievement demonstrates a commitment to the
legal profession early in their careers, distinguishing themselves
from many of their peers.
Beth Ann Bivona is a partner at Damon & Morey LLP who practices in
the firms Business Litigation and Insolvency Department. She works
primarily with businesses and other professional clients on a variety
of commercial disputes and insolvency matters. Her work not only
includes the handling of commercial, federal and complex litigation,
debtor and creditor counseling, representation in bankruptcy
proceedings and financial workouts. The Chair of the firms Equine
Practice Group, Ms. Bivona also represents barn owners, horse owners,
trainers, and riders on various matters involving contract
negotiations, disputes, and litigation.
A frequent lecturer, Ms. Bivona, was appointed as the First Female
Chair of the Bar Association of Erie County's Commercial and
Bankruptcy and Law Committee. Her professional memberships include the
New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Western
New York's Women' s Bar Association and Delta Sigma Pi (professional
business fraternity). Ms. Bivona also serves on the Legal Committee of
the New York State Horse Counsel and is a volunteer for Judge Ninfo's
CARE Program, Lawyers for Learning and Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Ms. Bivona received her B.S. degree in Business Administration, cum
laude, from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1993. She
received her JD degree, cum laude, from Michigan State University,
Detroit College of Law in 1997.
Mary C. Raymond is Special Counsel practicing in the firms Business
and Corporate Department. A member of the Health Care, FDA and Medical
Device and Pharmaceutical Practice Groups, Mrs. Raymond works for
for-profit and not-for profit organizations on corporate formation,
risk management, contract issues, venture capital, grants, finance and
audit issues; administrative/agency proceedings, and compliance
issues. Chair of the firms FDA Practice Group, she advises clients on
matters involving FDA petitions, HACCP, product recalls, regulatory
compliance, retail establishments, clinical drug trials, NDAs, OTC
drug issues, drug labeling/marketing, medical device approvals and
recalls, biotechnology/safety, import/export issues. Her environmental
practice includes matters related to CERCLA and Navigation Law,
Agricultural Law, statutory and regulatory compliance and issues
related to the transfer of real property.
Mrs. Raymond is the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the
Genesee County Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as the Chair of
its Public Policy Committee. She is a member and Past President of the
Batavia Rotary Club and a member of the United Memorial Medical Center
Foundation Board of Directors. Her professional memberships include
the American Health Lawyers Association, the Association of Food and
Drug Officials, the Genesee County Bar Association and the Health and
Environmental Law Sections of the Erie County and the New York State
Bar Associations. She lectures frequently on FDA and health care
issues.
Mrs. Raymond received her B.S. degree in Education, cum laude, from
the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, her M.A.
degree in Education, with honors, from the State University of New
York at Buffalo, and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from the State
University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.
