Damon & Morey has expanded its practice
to include the area of Food, Drug, and Agricultural Law into its
corporate health care practice. Businesses involved in the sale, service
or manufacture of food, drug and agricultural-related products are
facing an evolving body of statutory and decisional law concerning these
industries. Legal counseling that assists in meeting regulatory
requirements, while preserving productivity and profitability, is the
basis of Damon & Morey’s experience with federal and state regulatory
matters.
Through its appointment to the New York
State Bar Association’s Food, Drug and Cosmetic Law Section Food Law
Committee, Damon & Morey is involved in the promotion of reform and
administration of justice in laws affecting these important industries.
Mary C. Raymond is the attorney who leads this area of practice in our
firm. As the former Chief Executive Officer of Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Genesee County, Ms. Raymond has extensive experience in the
food, agricultural and health care industries. She has developed
resources to assist industries in setting up and implementing a Hazard
Analysis Critical Control Point Program. She works closely with the
faculty at Cornell University, representatives from the Food and Drug
Administration and the New York State Department of Agriculture and
Markets on issues affecting food and agriculture.
Damon & Morey provides counseling on how
to comply with complex federal and state regulations related to these

Enforcement actions including warning letters, recalls, seizures
and withdrawal of approval
Environmental Protection Agency matters such as the Risk
Management Plan Under the Clean Air Act
Federal Trade Commission matters
Food additive clearances
Food labeling (including NLEA regulations)
Food safety, standards and composition
Good manufacturing practices
Packaging
Protection of trade secrets and other confidential information
Routine and special inspections
USDA Rulings on Agricultural Marketing Program participation
Weights and measures
More than one-half of the firm’s
attorneys are members of the firm’s Litigation Department and are
admitted to practice before all state and federal courts. They assist
clients with complaints regarding practices of competitors and where
negotiation and administrative proceedings are unable to resolve
disputes, they are prepared to represent the interests of our clients in
any judicial proceedings that become necessary.
