Damon & Morey’s construction practice
group is supported by a full-service law firm of experienced lawyers
prepared to address legal issues which frequently arise in
construction-related matters, including construction industry
litigation, arbitration, claims preparation, lien recordation and
enforcement, trust fund claims, bond claims, contract drafting and
review, bid protests, environmental issues, labor issues, court of
claims matters, real estate and financing.
The experience of the construction practice group includes all aspects
of a project, and all phases of the construction process that are vital
to the successful outcome of any new project. We are experienced in
representing owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors,
material suppliers, architects and other design professionals. In
addition to drafting and negotiating contracts, our attorneys assist in
developing standardized forms for all parties to the construction
process.
The scope of our representation also includes clients involved in design
and construction disputes ranging from the defense or foreclosure of
mechanics’ lien claims to complex litigation involving design defects or
construction failures and delays. Many of these cases involve sureties,
insurers and lenders in addition to owners, contractors and design
professionals.
Although it is Damon & Morey’s goal to avoid the necessity of
litigation, our attorneys are prepared to handle all claims and lawsuits
and settle issues by means of arbitration, mediation or litigation.
Damon & Morey is prepared to defend architects, engineers and other
design professionals in malpractice and contract litigation. The firm’s
attorneys have been involved in lawsuits on behalf of architects and
engineers ranging from major construction projects involving the removal
of hazardous waste, to more modest projects involving the renovation of
existing office buildings.
Damon & Morey’s construction practice group attorneys are members of
local, state and various trade organizations and often speak at
professional society meetings, both at the state and local levels, as
well as at numerous in-house loss prevention seminars.
