Ms. Flannery is an Associate at Damon & Morey, practicing in the
firm’s Trust and Estate and
Corporate Departments. Her practice
involves trusts and estate planning and administration, business
succession planning, and corporate matters involving small business and
not profit/public charity advisement. Ms. Flannery works with
closely-held businesses and not-for-profit corporations and has been
engaged in matters involving corporate and partnership formations,
business start-ups, mergers and acquisitions and tax exempt
applications.
Ms. Flannery received her B.A. degree from the State University of
New York at Binghamton and went on to receive her J.D. degree, cum
laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.
She was the recipient of both the Law School’s Robert J. Connelly Award
for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and the Professor Louis DelCotto Award
for Excellence in Taxation. While attending law school, she also served
as a law clerk in the Erie County Surrogate’s Court and a teaching
assistant for the law school’s estate planning course.
Her professional memberships include the New York State Bar
Association, in the Trust & Estates and Business Law Section; Women’s
Bar Association of the State of New York; American Bar Association; Bar
Association of Erie County, Surrogate’s Court Practice Subcommittee, and
the Western New York Planned Giving Consortium.
A frequent lecturer, Ms. Flannery most recently served as a guest
lecturer on Estate Planning Basics for the New York State Bar
Association. In 2006, her article entitled “Article 81 Enactment: Its
Impact on Aging Women” was published in the Buffalo Women’s Law Journal.
Ms. Flannery is certified with the New York State Office of Court
Administration to receive fiduciary appointments as court evaluator,
guardian, guardian ad litem, receiver, referee and attorney for alleged
incapacitated persons.
Active in her community, Ms. Flannery recently served as an
Adopt-a-Family Program organizer, a Big Brother Big Sister mentor, and a
volunteer for the Action Committee for Women in Prison, Buffalo Olmstead
Parks Conservancy, The Danielle House and the Volunteer Lawyer’s
Project. She is a member of the Board of Directors (Personnel Committee)
for the Buffalo Prenatal Network, and she is also a founding member of
the Mosey Persico & Flannery Foundation.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Flannery was a partner at Mosey
Persico,LLP where her practice focused on general corporate matters,
trust and estate administration, estate planning. She also is frequently
retained by members of the litigation bar to advise on allocation and
distribution proceedings related to wrongful death settlements in both
Supreme and Surrogate’s Courts.
